La Casa de la Herencia Cultural Puertorriqueña

La Casa de la Herencia Cultural Puertorriqueña (La Casa) is a not-for-profit, community-based, cultural institution, founded in 1980 to advance, disseminate and preserve the cultural heritage of Puerto Ricans in New York City. La Casa’s main component is its Puerto Rican Heritage Library and Resource Center, a large and diverse library of study and scientific research.

La Casa’s archives include a collection of microfilms, over two hundred cultural posters, photographs, arts and crafts, and objects from pre-Columbian times, available to students at all levels of study and to all community members. Visited by educational leaders from across the nation, Puerto Rico, and Spain, its Puerto Rican Heritage Library and Resource Center is open to the general public for research, programs and special events.

La Casa hosts a series of cultural and educational programs and special events, pertaining to the history, culture, literature, and arts and crafts of Puerto Rico, and the contributions pioneered by the Puerto Rican community of New York City.
